I won't go too much into how this blog came about here on this page. (You can look at the About Me page and this blog's very first post to learn more). But I'll just briefly say that when I started reading the Bible in Italian as part of my studies to learn the Italian language, I began to see things in the Italian version of the Bible that I didn't see when reading the Bible in English. This blog is basically a series of Bible lessons based on those insights.

And let me also say that I personally am not yet fluent in the Italian language. This is simply me sharing what I learn about the Italian language (and sometimes the culture) as I learn it and as I prepare for my own trip to Italy. My apologies if by chance any of my interpretations are slightly off.

What You'll Find in This Blog

Over a period of 1 year, I will be reading through the entire New Testament in Italian. I'll be following a reading plan that determines what chapters and verses should be read each week.

And at least once a week, there'll be a new post based on something I've seen in that week's New Testament reading.

The posts will focus mostly on the insights I get from the Italian language, but will be in English so anyone will be able to follow along.

Who This Blog is For

This blog offers something for Christians who already speak Italian, are trying to learning Italian and even those who don't know any Italian. Even those who aren't Christians will be able to find something useful here.

• Christians who are trying to learn the Italian language: Maybe you're planning on doing some traveling in Italy and you are trying to learn the language. (Or maybe you just love different things about Italy.) Reading the Bible in Italian is a good way to supplement your language studies.
• Christians who plan on ministering in Italy: If you've heard God's call to be a missionary or Tent Maker or to minister in any other way in the country of Italy; this is a good way to start learning the different ways and terms that Italians use to describe the things of God.
• Christians who have no particular interest in Italian but are interested in enhancing their studies of the Bible: You don't need to know any Italian to follow along. Gaining insights into the Bible from the Italian language is similar to the way we find deeper meaning in Scripture verses by looking up the words in the original Hebrew or Greek (just less theological and a little more inspirational). It's also similar to how we sometimes check different Bible translations. Bottom line, the posts on this blog will contain insightful Bible lessons that can enrich anyone's Christian walk, even if you only speak (and are only interested in) English. Give it a try and see.
• Those who aren't necessarily Christians but want something to supplement Their Italian language studies: If you are trying to gain a deeper understanding of the Italian language but aren't someone who has committed themselves to the Christian way of life, this is still the site for you. You can practice your Italian by following the weekly readings and weekly posts. You'll be reading something positive and inspirational. And don't worry, there won't be any heavy theological debates.

How To Follow/Use This Blog

I will be reading through the entire New Testament in 1 year and posting at least once a week.

For English, I will be mainly using the New King James Version (NKJV). All English Bible quotes, unless otherwise noted, will be taken from this version.

Likewise, for Italian, I will be mainly using what's called the La Nuova Diodati (LND) version. Like English, there are several Italian versions. This one is roughly the Italian equivalent of the New Kings James Version. All Italian Bible quotes, unless otherwise noted, will be taken from this version.

One thing that I've taken into consideration is that most of us are busy with different things and have to find a way to fit them into our schedules, (myself included).  By posting (usually) just once a week, and reading through just the New Testament, this one year Bible journey should be easier to stick to.

Having said that, your level of participation is completely up to you. You can choose to read the weekly Bible lessons as well as read the New Testament through the year. Or if your time is very limited, you can just read each week's post. Either way, I believe it will be a blessing to you.

Each post will be in English with Italian words included and explained  as needed. But if you decide to also do the readings there are 2 things to think about:

1. What language you'll be reading the New Testament in, English or Italian. Either will work. If you're not up to doing so much reading in Italian, don't worry. All you need to understand will be in the lesson posts
2. The particular plan or schedule you'll use to get through the entire New Testament in one year.

The official starting time for this 52 week journey is the first week of the year. But you can begin at any time.
