La Bibbia, the Bible, constantly reminds me of how awesome God is.
God can
take a single passage of scripture, and from that one passage, reveal to us
multiple truths. A single verse can hold different meanings for different
people. And a single story can hold many additional gems that aren't really the
main focus of the story.
For
example, Mark 13 speaks of the last days. But in v. 24, I found a little gem of truth buried like hidden treasure.
It talks
about a time when the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its
light. But the real treat is in how the Italian version describes the moon's
light. It's called il splendore of la luna, the moon.
This tells
us that the light of the moon is no ordinary light but it's a light that's full
of splendor. And to understand this, it's important to know that the moon
doesn't really have any light of its own. The light that we see shining from
the moon is actually the light that it reflects from the sun. Notice that this
verse talks about when la luna isn't
giving its light or splendor. For just before that it tells us that the sun
will be darkened.
And in the
same manner, as the people of God, it's not our own personal light that shines
to those in darkness. We reflect the light and the splendore of Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:18 tells us that we behold
the glory of Christ as in a mirror and are changed into that same image.
So always
keep in mind that our job as ambassadors of Christ, is to project and reflect,
His gloria throughout the world. Don't
allow your trials and tribulations to keep you from imparting il splendore di Cristo, the splendor of Christ.
